This is a bench technician position in a production environment, performing microminiature component level troubleshooting, repair, alignment and programming of computer controlled synthesized Motorola radios and Nextel phones.
WorldCom - Telecommunications Terminal Operations - 01/98 - 12/02
Directly involved with the initial fiber optic equipment installation, interconnection and testing of the new Hillsboro Network Information Center. This facility carries the majority of the MCI WorldCom West coast backbone traffic. I shared direct responsible for all traffic from DS0 to OC192-9.6 Gbps. Our site grew to include has many rows of optical transmission mux & amp chains, five large digital cross connection switches, two long distance voice switches, a web server farm and a UUNET backbone core hub. Maintained all aspects of mountain top microwave sites, including radio transceivers, alarm, battery, power systems and standby generators. Intranet web master for Pacific North Territory.
Preferred Technical Services - Communications Systems Technician - 02/97 - 01/98
Completed installation, programming, testing and turn up of Preferred Networks, Northwest Regional, Technical Control Center and paging system. Installed and programmed high power paging transmitters with satellite receivers in building and mountain top sites throughout Washington and Oregon. Coordinated T-1 telephone trunks installation. Maintained, modified and installed most of the communication equipment for this 911 dispatch center and at its remote radio sites. This position includes radio base station, wide area network, facility maintenance, emergency power and transmission tower work. This equipment included; VHF and UHF base stations and repeaters, voted receiver systems, analog microwave transceivers, multiplexers, and battery backup systems. Tuned and troubleshoot antenna systems containing combiners, multicouplers, and isolators. Carried out hardware and software changes to custom, fault tolerant, dispatch consoles; insuring equipment remained on line with minimal disruption. Installed a wide area network of multiplexers and modems.
